The Animal Rescuers of Florida is our most recent custom WordPress site. The Advocate Theme from Two2Twelve was developed for non-profits and was installed and heavily customized to achieve the look and feel desired by Animal Rescuers. We have it working with the latest WordPress release (3.5.1).
The Advocate theme includes significant implementation of jQuery features which makes for awesome image management and slide shows. It also features several custom post types including:
- Events (with the jQuery Calendar)
- Sponsors
- Features (a special post type for promoting non-profit services)
- Galleries (a unique way to highlight animals in need of care)
The theme also has a nice way of presenting donation requests.
Customizations include:
- Color scheme extensively modified based on the Animal Rescuers logo
- Custom widgets to display unique content
- Implementation and creation of comprehensive custom forms for fostering and adoption applications
- Integration of social media including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+
The site was developed and installed on icdSoft shared hosting, my favorite full featured hosting platform.
